ASIA/CAMBODIA-Helping orphaned children or disadvantaged communities to build their future

Phnom Penh (Agenzia Fides) - Under the acronym HELP the activities promoted by the Don Bosco Children Fund (DBCF) in Phnom Penh, Poipet, Battambang and Sihanoukville are carried out. This is a special program of the Don Bosco Foundation of Cambodia, which opened in 1992 for the care of orphans or children belonging to disadvantaged communities. The acronym, says Ans in a note sent to Fides, stands for H-Health E-Education, L-Love, P-Protection. The goal of the DBFC is to educate the children and help them build their future. Through the help of various sponsors, it ensures that poor children can attend school. Since its birth 20 years ago, DBCF has followed 9,318 poor or marginalized children. Currently 4,455 children are still in the program of access to compulsory primary education and basic literacy, while other 490 children with HIV/AIDS, as well as benefitting from all the other educational opportunities as their peers across the country they are included in health programs .
