ASIA/HONG KONG - Works of love and special attention to disadvantaged groups: the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the Campaign for Lent

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) – Carrying out works of charity and to give full attention to disadvantaged groups: is the lenten invitation to the faithful of Hong Kong by the Organizing Committee of the Campaign for Lent of the Catholic Church in Hong Kong. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), about ninety teachers in Catholic schools, religious educators and pastoral ministers, attended the presentation of the Campaign, which was presided by Fr.J. B. Tsang, president of the Organizing Committee of the Campaign, who cited the Pope's Message for Lent 2012 entitled "We must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works" (Heb. 10, 24), inviting the faithful to deepen their faith and to practice charity. Fr.Tsang, as President of the Organizing Committee, on 28 January had already sent a letter to pastors on the subject, to the higher missionary institutions, the Catholic school headmasters, to the presidents of the parish Council, to the heads of committees and diocesan organizations and to Catholic associations of the laity. The letter presented the program of the diocese for Lent 2012 and announced some important dates: from "8 February, the Committee begins to distribute the message, materials, posters for Lent in schools, parishes and Catholic institutions"; " the CD 'Paschal Lamb' was released for the Lenten formation of children", "Caritas will begin visits offering free meals to the needy"; on "May 19 a meeting for the award of Lent Campaign 2012 will be held ".
