VATICAN - Children’s Hospital Bambino Gesu provides tele-medical care for children overseas with an Important agreement to benefit children in South America

Vatican City (Fides) - An agreement has been signed between Rome’s Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital (donated by its founders in 1924 to the Holy See) and the Italo-Latin American Institute on 30 April. The hospital now exports ‘paediatric pills’ to countries in South America. The term is an understatement but it renders the idea of the agreement signed by the President of the largest Children’s Hospital in Italy Dr. Francesco Silvano and the Secretary General of the Italo-Latin American Institute(IILA), Ambassador Paolo Faiola.
With the agreement for the next five years the Bambino Gesu Hospital’s teams of specialists will offer paediatric assistance and technical-surgical advice to health structures in Latin American countries using the latest technology for tele-medicine and tele-consultation.
According to the agreement Bambino Gesu Hospital will: accept child patients from Latin America suffering from particularly serious and complex diseases; help develop professional paediatric training for Latin American health care workers; provide training sources and scholarships stage; the use of Bambino Gesu Hospital’s enormous data bank (www.ospedalebambinogesu.it), which receives information and experience with regard to the most important results of testing; exchange of documentaries and scholarships for Latin American students in the sector of paediatrics and nutrition.
