AFRICA/D. R. CONGO - Pontifical Mission Societies in Congo issue new vademecum for missionary animation

Kinshasa (Agenzia Fides)- The national office of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Democratic is about to issue a handbook on missionary animation to increase awareness among the faithful that all Catholics are called to help preach and spread the Gospel.
The vademecum is part of this year's PMS Mission Programme which includes, according to the local Kinshasa news agency DIA a series of mission animation visits in the ecclesiastical provinces of Mbandaka-Bikoro, Kisangani and Bukavu, for form PMS diocesan directors of and PMS animators all over the country and increase awareness of the importance of involvement in mission. The national director will also make visits to the ecclesiastical provinces of Lubumbashi, Kananga and Kinshasa.
Previous efforts of mission animation have successfully increased awareness of the duty to support the missionary activity of the Church and resulted in more generous offerings on Mission Sunday in October.
The present PMS Director in Congo, Archbishop Godefroy Mukeng Kalond, emeritus Archbishop of Kananga was appointed in May 2006. PMS national secretary is Mgr. Félicien Ilunga Mayamba, a priest of the diocese of Luiza, appointed in January 2007. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 11/7/2007 righe 23 parole 223)
