Quito (Agenzia Fides) - From 30 July to 3 August 3 the city of Quito in Ecuador will host the 2nd International Missiology Symposium “Anthropology and Pastoral of Mission": a new lap on the path of preparation for Third American Mission Congress - CAM 3 to be held in Quito from 12 to 17 August 2008 on the theme "America with Christ, listen, learn and announce". The Symposium is organised jointly by CELAM Spirituality and Mission section and the CAM 3 Central Committee.
The Symposium will reflect on the Anthropology and Pastoral of Mission to prepare a contribution to present at CAM 3 and at the Great Continental Mission all over Latin America as proposed by the recent 5th General Conference of the Council of Bishops' Conferences of Latin America and the Caribbean held in Aparecida in May.
Tuesday 31 July the theme will be "Our missionary discipleship today", with a conference "Missionary Anthropology Today ". A community Mass will be presided by Archbishop Raúl Vela Chiriboga of Quito, Primate of Ecuador and CAM 3 host. There will also be the presentation of the official CAM 3 Hymn.
The theme on Wednesday 1 August will be "Carried by the Spirito, we find ourselves on mission", with a conference "Missionary perspectives of CELAM 5". The community Mass will be presided by Archbishop Arregui Yarza of Guayaquil.
Thursday 2 August, theme “Our Church today: identity of disciple and missionary” conference: "Missionary Pastoral in the local Church". In the afternoon the participants will receive a copy of CAM 3 Working Paper which has an introduction and five chapters: "Our missionary life in America; Discipleship: community Disciple of Jesus; Pentecost: community carried by the Spirit; Evangelisation: missionary community for humanity; Mary: disciple and missionary. The closing Mass will be presided by Archbishop Giacomo Guido Ottonello, Apostolic nuncio in Ecuador. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 4/7/2007- righe 26, parole 353)
