Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - “The Papal Letter will strengthen communion among Catholics in China where there is profound respect for the words of the Head of the Family” Catholics in Beijing told Fides: “For the people of China, Catholics especially, traditions are important. When a discussion arises a word from the head of the family is enough to settle the matter because the Confucian culture educates us to obey the leaders, superiors, parents and the head of the family. The Pope is the head of our great Catholic family. Of course not everything is easy, otherwise things would be settled. But we hope the word of the Pope will put an end to confusion and disputes. At least we pray for this”. According to local sources Chinese Catholics and the whole Christian community are waiting for the Papal Letter with trepidation.
