Shang Hai (Agenzia Fides) - The Encyclical Deus Caritas Est is the theme of the 2nd cycle of catechesis in the diocese of Shang Hai. The diocese's web site says the course taking place in Qi Bao parish, 10 June to 23 March 2008, has drawn double the number of catechumen participants. The 40 enrolled have become 80. Most are young people, immigrant workers, students, employees …. The main theme Pope Benedict XVI 's encyclical Deus Caritas Est will be developed with various sub themes. The priests and catechists say the themes for the course have been carefully chosen and include the following: the meaning of life and suffering; the life of Jesus; seeking the Lord; Jesus calls; the Holy Spirit and the Church; the Sacraments; Christian Life; Christmas; Serving the Lord; prayer; evangelisation; preparation for the Sacraments of Christian Initiation.
