Saturday, 23 June 2007

Zadar (Croatia) - From 28 June to 1 July in Zadar (Croatia), there will be the Annual Meeting of the European Vocations Service (EVS), which brings together the national Vocations' Offices of the 34 Bishops' Conferences in Europe. Preparation for the meeting was coordinated by EVS president Bishop Wojciech Polach auxiliary of the diocese of Gniezno, Poland, and Council of European Bishops' Conferences Delegate for Vocations and the present Coordinator, Fr Jean-Pierre Leroy, in charge of the Vocations Office of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Belgium.
The theme chosen for the meeting this year “The Family: place of vocations” highlights the role and responsibility of the family, as the first basic Christian community, for the birth and maturation of every Christian vocation. The theme will focus on two central points: “The Family, place for interior recollection” and “The Family: place of mission”. Each theme will be introduced with conference, followed by a debate. One session will be devoted to reports on the activity of a number of national vocations offices of the respective Bishops' Conferences highlighting the riches and difficulties of the Christian communities on the continent.
