Warsaw (Agenzia Fides) - The months of May and June in Poland have been a time for intense activity mission animation which reflects the country's lively spirit of mission, the national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Poland Mons. Jan Piotrowski, told Fides. Initiatives included 13 Holy Childhood diocesan mission congresses in Bialystok and Drohiczyn, Lomza, Torun-Grudziadz, Gniezno, Siedlce, Poznan-Srem, Swidnica, Wroclaw and Krakow involving children aged 9 to 15. The congresses were part of celebrations for 150 years of Holy Childhood in Poland with the slogan: "Here I am send me". “We are preparing for the national jubilee congress in Krakow 6-7 June in 2008 with the presence of Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, Archbishop of Krakow which we hope will be a great missionary festival with the massive participation of boys and girls and guests from other countries ". The theme of the Congress is “From the Baltic Sea to the mountain peaks we are missionaries of Jesus" the National Director told Fides.
There will be three more national mission events: 19 to 22 June at the National Centre for Mission Formation in Warsaw, a traditional meeting for Polish missionaries on home-leave (about 120). Participants will include Bishop Wiktor Skworc president of the Polish Bishops' Mission Commission and Cardinal Józef Glemp, primate of Poland, Catholic journalists and the national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. The second event at the same National Centre for Mission Formation will be course in mission formation 25 - 30 June for about 50 delegates from various dioceses in Poland. The third event will be the 41st National Mission Symposium for Seminarians 27 - 30 June at the diocesan seminary Warsaw on the theme: "Let us share with others the gift of faith received" (cfr. Fidei donum, 1). "We hope these events and the meeting of diocesan directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies in September will intensify the missionary spirit of the participants and of all the communities which receive this message of cooperation " said Mons Jan Piotrowski.
With regard to Mission Sunday this year 2007, with the theme "Love, the source of every missionary vocation" the national PMS office has prepared and distributed material for animation. "The message of Pope Benedict XVI with the title ‘All the Church for all the world’ encourages us to follow these guidelines and respond to the challenges of mission " Mons. Piotrowski concluded.
