ASIA/TAIWAN - Catholics live month of the Sacred Heart with deep devotion and in memory of John Paul II

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - Catholics in Taiwan are living June, the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with deep devotion and in grateful memory of the beloved Pope John Paul II. According to the Tai Pei diocesan bulletin Christian Life Weekly, at the beginning of June there was a media conference to present the Chinese version of the late Pope's book "Memory and Identity”. The rector of Fu Ren Catholic University Li Jian Qiu and the Jesuit theologian Fr. Fang Zhi Rong were present at the conference, during which Catholic publishing houses presented DVDs on the life of John Paul II. Rector Li Jian Qiu underlined the importance of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the life of John Paul II “the Sacred Heart is the source of love. It is important to keep returning to the Sacred Heart as the Pope used to do ”. Sacred Heart of Jesus parish church in Gu Ting invited people to take part in a solemn three days of prayer to render homage to the Sacred Heart of Jesus 14 to 16 June. The initiative has two goals to create awareness that that the Sacred Heart is a sign and symbol of Jesus' humanity and God's profound Love for all humanity, and to strengthen faith in the Incarnation of the Son of God.
