AMERICA/MEXICO - “World Tour for Peace and Unity” from Basilica of Guadalupe starts a journey to 100 countries to conclude in Rome in 2008: music to promote peace and unity among all peoples

Mexico (Agenzia Fides) - With the motto “One in Heart and Mind”, defending life as a non negotiable value, building interior peace for world without conflict, seeking the unity of simple hearts Ecumenicon Project will set out on its “World Tour for Peace and Unity”, on June 12 from the Basilica of Guadalupe, at 7pm. The Tour will carry its message to 100 different countries including, Israel, and will conclude in Rome next year 2008. The initiative starts from Mexico City because Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of all America, is considered the perfect symbol of integration.
With the motto "Cor Unum et Anima Una", the Tour aims to promote the universal values of Christian humanism, especially protection of life, with public gatherings to bring together different Christian options with regard to a message of unity, peace and reconciliation, emphasising the protection of human dignity from conception to natural death, without distinction of origin, race or creed. This ambitious programme aims to promote reconciliation and understanding among nations and to call millions of people to join an effort of global solidarity. It is a cultural event with social repercussions which starts from an opera of sacred music which is a blending of the ideas of unity which have permeated human down through the centuries, the expressive power of music. Ecumenism, union, a longing for harmony among all peoples is the basis of this "Oratorio Ecumenicon", which hopes through music to create awareness of the deep human longing for unity and support the search for a common denominator to lead to a better future.
The project also intends to promote international solidarity to support charity causes all over the world in developing countries in particular. The Tour starts in Mexico, and will touch 100 countries including Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, United States, Spain, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Israel, South Africa Philippines, Australia and Italy. “Ecumenicon Porject” is promoted by Spain's John Paul II Pro Family Association.
