Rome (Fides Service) – Mother Teresa’s beloved “poorest of the poor”, bedridden invalids, lepers, will be able to see pictures of her Beatification in Rome almost in real time thanks to an initiative by young members of the Don Bosco Oratory in Calcutta. The young Oratorians, experts on the new Information technology, will distribute photographs and videos of the event to the poorest people in Calcutta the city where Mother Teresa worked.
Father Joseph Manipadam, head of Don Bosco Youth Service explains the initiative to Fides Service. “Our boys wanted to give the poor and the sick being cared for in Mother Teresa’s Homes, this unique opportunity to be in communion with Mother and with the universal Church”.
Starting on Monday 20 October the boys will start a round of visits to the 15 homes run by the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta. They will carry with them all the necessary equipment for projecting the video of the event as well as distributing photos to the inmates.
“For many of our boys this will be the first visit to one of these Homes and the first direct contact with suffering, poverty, disease. It will certainly be an enriching experience for their formation as well as an act of love and solidarity towards Mother Teresa’s beloved poorest of the poor”.
