ASIA/SOUTH KOREA - Bishops' message for Day for Life, 27 May

Seoul (Agenzia Fides) - On the occasion of the annual Day for Life on 27 May, the Catholic Bishops of South Korea have issued a message "Respect for Life Today and Always".
The message, signed by the head of the Bishops' Commission for Bio-Ethics Bishop Xavier Ahn Myong, expresses “serious concern for the crisis in the value of life in our society today”. “No one and no end however good can justify the violation of life”, the Bishop states underlining that human life is an end not a means.
The Bishop gives the example of human embryos, carriers of life, used for experiments or for economic gain and he such a right”.
The message states “the human person must be respected from the moment of conception” and that "making a human embryo the object of research involves killing a human person”.
The message also encourages Catholics and all Koreans to help promote a “culture of life”, especially among young people, married couples and families and concludes by calling for the collaboration of teachers, researchers, scientists, politicians and media operators.
