EUROPE/ITALY Fr. Gian Battista Zanchi re-elected Superior General of PIME

Rome (Fides Service) - On May 24 Fr Gianbattista Zanchi, aged 64 was re-elected Superior General of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME) by the 44 members of the PIME general assembly meeting in Ariccia, near Rome (see Fides 8/5/2007). Born on 12 June in 1942 at Montodine (CR), Fr. Zanchi was ordained a priest for PIME in 1968. In 1975 he went on mission to Bangladesh. In 1995 he was elected Vicar General and six years later PIME Superior General. This is his second mandate. On the same day the assembly elected PIME Vicar General Fr Livio Maggi, aged 48, since 1991 missionary in Thailand, where he was at present PIME Superior Delegate, and three counsellors of the PIME General Direction: Fr Mark Tardiff (born in 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, United States), Fr Antonio Carlos Nunes (born in 1954 in Assis, Sao Paulo, Brazil), Fr Alberto Zamberletti (born in in 1948 a Velate Italy, since 1974 he had been in Guinea Bissau).
