EUROPE/FRANCE - New National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies and the Pontifical Epiphany Collection for Africa

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Ivan Dias Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 26 March 2007 appointed Rev. Pierre-Yves Pecqueux, of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary (Eudist Fathers), National Director in France of the Pontifical Mission Societies and the Pontifical Epiphany Collection for Africa for a five year term (2007-2012).
The new national director was born at Boulogne sur Mer on 21 April 1948 and was ordained a priest in the Congregation of Jesus and Mary (Eudist Fathers), on 15 Mary 1977. He obtained a degree in Theology. He has had varied experience in the congregation and in the field of Scouting, in pastoral work and in Africa. In his congregation he has been Delegate of the French province for vocation pastoral, director of the Saint Bernard Community for Discernment, provincial counsellor for two mandates and general counsellor. From 1971 to 1973 he was director of the Office for liaison with Catholic Scouting Africa and Madagascar (BULIAM) in Abidjan, international commissioner adjunct for Scouts of France for Africa, national counsellor of the Scout Movement in France.
