EUROPE/ITALY - 20th anniversary for GRIS, Social-Religious Information Research Group, at the service of the Church and the world of culture on Alternative Religious Movements

Rome (Fides Serice) - GRIS, Social-Religious Information Research Group, is an association juridically established in Bologna 8 February 1987. The Italian Bishops' Conference CEI in the person of Cardinal Ugo Poletti, officially approved the statute on 25 September 1990; successive changes to the statute were approved on 6 February 2002 by the CEI, in the person of Cardinal Camillo Ruini. This year therefore GRIS celebrates its 20th anniversary. For the occasion on Wednesday 13 June GRIS will attend the Papal Audience accompanied by Bishop Luigi Negri of the diocese of San Marino-Montefeltro and Delegate for Ecumenism and Dialogue of the Bishops' Emilia Romagna regional Conference. In the afternoon at 3pm in the San Raimondo Hall at the Pontifical University of St Thomas, Largo Angelicum 1 - Rome, there will be a meeting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of foundation, to comment on the day, and share ideas and proposals for the future.
In its activity GRIS collaborates with dioceses, parishes, church associations, schools, universities, cultural centres making available the fruit of its research by means of conferences, courses, meetings, counselling, spiritual social and organisational assistance with regard to what are termed “Alternative Religious Movements” (MRA). GRIS also collaborates with civil authorities, publishes a magazine “Religioni e Sette nel mondo” and a Dossier of the Periodical “Presenza Cristiana”, organises and participates in radio and television programmes.
