ASIA/HONG KONG - Local Year of the Family: 25 families attend "Parents to Children handing-on the faith" meeting; family building web site opens new page

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - “The Family Hands on its Treasure” was the title of a meeting of formation in the faith in the family organised recently at St Benedict parish by Hong Kong's diocesan commission for catechism as part of initiatives for the local Year of the Family being celebrated by the diocese. According to the diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao, 25 families, 80 people in all, parents and children took part in the meeting in parents' groups and children's groups, the children were entrusted to the care of 11 Sunday School teachers. “How Catholic parents teach the faith to their children” was the parent group theme for reflection, followed by sharing of experience. In the children's groups the organisers told the boys and girls about the importance of the faith, of Christian life, of knowing how to forgive and appreciate life. Both parents and children were encouraged to share their experience of how to build a Christian family in communion. At the end of the meeting there was a reading from Scripture, prayers and a special Blessing of the families. The diocesan commission for catechism announced that on the occasion of the local Year of the Family it has opened a new page on its web site “Building together a Sweet Family”.
