EUROPE/SPAIN - Peoples of America 7th Meeting at Shrine of Torreciudad to “pray for peace and stability in our countries and for our families on the other side of the Atlantic”

Huesca (Fides Service) - 'United For Migration' is the theme of the 7th Meeting of Peoples of America at the Shrine of Torreciudad in Spain on Sunday 6 May during which there will be a twinning with Latin Americans resident in Spain. This is the most important of these sort of gatherings organised in Spain and participants include families of various nationalities as well as members of associations, NGOs and parishes involved in assistance for immigrants.
The Day will be presided by Bishop José Manuel Lorca of the diocese of Teruel and Albarracín who will celebrate a special Mass attended also by the diplomatic corps of Latin America and the Caribbean accredited in Spain.
The meeting with begin with Offerings from each of the different peoples followed by Mass. After the Mass there will be folkloristic dancing and music. In the afternoon, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and recitation of the Rosary.
Meeting co-ordinators Germán López and Margarita Espinosa, Colombians resident in Spain for 30 years, explain the purpose of the meeting: "it is an opportunity to come together to pray for peace and stability in our different countries and for our families on the other side of the Atlantic. This very special Day offers us Hispanic-American immigrants a chance to relive our customs with our compatriots and other Latin American brothers and sisters".
At the Marian shrine of Torreciudad, a place of international pilgrimage, the Blessed Virgin Mary is invoked under the different titles with which she is loved in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puorto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
