EUROPE/GEORGIA - Camillian Fathers organise Centre for psychic and physical rehabilitation of persons with disability

Tbilisi (Agenzia Fides) - Due to the extreme poverty of most families in Georgia, persons with a physical or psychic disability are completely abandoned and seen as a burden.
To alleviate the suffering of these persons the Camillian Brothers decided to open Centre for Psychic and Physical sends volunteers to fetch the out-patients on foot for those who are near and with a minibus for those further away. After breakfast at the centre the Day consists of talks with the psychologist or psychoanalyst, lessons at the computer and craft work until it is time to go home..
For the moment the Centre's temporary premises can take no more than 30 patients but the request is much greater.
The future Centre will include four halls for rehabilitation activities, a chapel, a refectory, a kitchen, a dispensary, an office, bathrooms and nine double rooms for in-patients.
