AMERICA/PERU - Course of Missiology sound formation to enable pastoral workers to tackle challenges of evangelisation at home and abroad

Lima (Agenzia Fides) - A Course in Missology organised jointly by CENAMIS National Mission Centre of the Peruvian Bishops' Commission for Missions and the Pontifical Mission Societies in Peru, starts today, 25 April and will continue until 4 July, Blanca Muñante, CENAMIS secretary informs Fides.
The goal of the Course is to offer pastoral workers the necessary sound formation in missiology to tackle successfully the challenges of evangelisation in Peru and abroad. The formation offered is based explicitly on indications of documents of the magisterium of the Supreme Pontiffs such as Redemptoris Missio and Pastores dabo vobis, and of the Bishops “ COMLA Priorities and Commitments”, statements issued by the Bishops' Conference of Peru “Peru, from your faith be missionary ” 1991 and “Mission calls us and renews us”, 1995. These documents will be studied during the course.
The course consists of 43 hours of lectures in four areas: Biblical and theological foundations of universal mission; History, stages and methods of evangelisation, present day mission tendencies; Mission spirituality; missionary pastoral and activity for inculturated evangelisation. The Course is open to diocesan priests, men and women religious, diocesan seminarians, members of local lay mission associations, formators, docents and professionals and members of youth movements, groups of apostolate, animators, parish delegates, catechists, university students and active lay Catholics.
