AFRICA/UGANDA - Rector appointed for Alokolum National Major Seminary in Gulu

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 9 December 2006 appointed Rev. Cosmas Alule of the diocesan clergy of Arua, Rector of Alokolum National Major Seminary in Gulu.
Rev Alule was born 11 December 1960 in Arua. He was ordained a priest on 27 August 1988. He attended Saints Peter and Paul Minor Seminary at Pokea, Arua (1975/79) and then studied philosophy and theology at Alokolum National Major Seminary in Gulu (1980/83). After a year of pastoral work in Arua (1983/84) he continued his studies at Ggaba National Major Seminary in Kampala (1984/85) and at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome (1985/89) for a Licentiate in dogmatic theology. He returned to Uganda and ministered as a parish priest and member of the formation team at Ggaba National Major Seminary in Kampala (1989/1995). He then went to Germany to study for a doctorate in theology (1995/2000) at St. Georgen Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule, in Frankfurt am Main. From 2000 to 2006 he ministered again as parish priest in various places and a member of the formation team at Alokolum National Major Seminary.
