ASIA/HONG KONG - Daily 13 hours of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Saints Peter and Paul Catholic parish in Yuan Lang responds to Pope Benedict XVI’s exhortation

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - On the occasion of the consecration of a new chapel dedicated to Saint Pio da Pietrelcina, the Catholic parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Yuan Lang, diocese of Hong Kong, inaugurated daily Adoration of the Eucharist for 13 hours a day. The diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao said 300 people were present for the Mass of consecration presided by the Bishop of Hong Kong, Cardinal Joseph Zen. Recalling that it was March 19th the feast of Saint Joseph the Cardinal urged those present to imitate the humility, trust and obedience of the great Saint and to strive to make the parish united like the Holy Family. At the end of the Mass of consecration of the new chapel, inaugurating daily Adoration of the Eucharist, the Cardinal underlined the importance of the Eucharist in the light of Pope Benedict XVI’s recent post-synodal exhortation. The parish priest Fr. Gervais E. Baudry, a member of the Institute of the Incarnate Word said that daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament leads to closer union with Christ: “Adoration helps us make Jesus the centre of our life as individuals, as a family, as a parish. It is a source of encouragement and comfort”. Expressing his satisfaction for the warm welcome given to the initiative the parish priest said the parish had decided to begin with 13 hours but the target was 24 hour adoration in response to the Holy Father’s appeal”.
