AMERICA/HAITI - 16th Latin American and Caribbean Caritas Conference and 3rd Continental Pastoral-Social Caritas Meeting aim to strengthen bonds and intensify articulated sharing

Port au Prince (Fides Service) - From 19-23 March 16th Port au Prince will host the 16th Latin American and Caribbean Caritas Conference and the 3rd Continental Pastoral-Social Caritas Meeting on the theme "Disciples and Missionaries of Jesus Christ for a more inclusive and sharing America" with the objective to strengthen bonds and intensify articulated sharing to help the poorest people on the continent. The participants will discuss questions of justice, reconciliation and peace, migration, human trafficking, ecosystem, emergencies, integral human development and intensifying articulated sharing.
"The world expects us to give a light, a sign that it is possible to build a different world" says Mgr Gregorio Rosa Chávez regional Caritas president, recalling that Latin America is the continent of hope for the future. These meetings, held every four years, are prepared with in-between areas meetings to discuss the social, political, economic, cultural and ecclesial situations in the different countries and identify problems to bring to the Conference. At the Conference each country presents a report on what has been achieved and how it has been achieved sharing with other countries the efforts made and results reached.
