Piura (Agenzia Fides) - “Lent is a time to confirm our faith in the Lord Jesus and our determination to announce his mystery of salvation with new zeal” Archbishop José Antonio Eguren Anselmi said in a Lenten Letter addressed to the faithful of the archdiocese of Piura, in which he offers reflections and suggestions for living this liturgical season as a time of grace and growth in the faith. This penitential season calls us to "heed God’s Word, to learn the truth of man, where we come from, where we are going and what we must do to be happy and obtain salvation".
First of all the letter explains the sense, significance, structure and feast days of Lent. To follow the Archbishop offers reflections on the Scripture readings for Lent and suggestions for liturgical celebrations and individual prayer, works of charity, fasting etc. The Archbishop concludes "May the liturgical and ascetic season of Lent help us to open our hearts to the loving mercy of the Lord Jesus who forgives, reconciles, enhances and makes us more worthy.
