Murcia (Fides Service) - UCAM Catholic University in Murcia is promoting formation courses for members of Confraternities taking part in Murcia Holy Week.
The news was announced by the rector of the college José Luis Mendoza, during a ceremony in the church of San Juan de Dios to proclaim the university Hermano de Honor de la Hospitalaria e Primera Associazion de lo Santissimo Cristo del la Salud celebrating the 50th anniversary of its re-foundation.
“The course is open to members, old and new of all the confraternities in Murcia in view of evangelisation”, said Mendoza.
Present for the ceremony the Bishop of Cartagena, Bishop Juan Antonio Reig Pla honorary chaplain of Hospitaller Orders. Bishop Reig Pla said “with this anniversary we return to the beginning, to the moment of brotherhood between UCAM and el Cristo della Salute” and he urged young people to take part in Murcia Holy Week.
The confraternity of the Hospitallers del Cristo della Salute is called the students’ confraternity, because it was started by a group of university students in 1957 to venerate and carry in procession the precious and beloved 15th century image of Christ, with perhaps the oldest in Murcia. Every Holy Tuesday the procession makes its way through the town. (AP) (19/2/2007 Agenzia Fides; Righe:25; Parole: 279)
