OCEANIA/AUSTRALIA - ‘Catholic Outlook’ Parramatta’s diocesan tabloid newspaper celebrates 100th edition with new graphics and more contents

Parramatta (Fides Service) - Catholic Outlook the official publication of the Diocese of Parramatta is a point of reference for the local Catholic community. The tabloid recently celebrated its 100th edition with an overall renewal of graphics and contents. This tabloid newspaper is distributed monthly, 11 issues per year. Circulation is 40,000 copies through 80 Catholic schools and 47 parishes. Catholic Outlook aims to inform the Catholic community about diocesan events and matters of Church teaching. Distribution includes priests and parishioners, school principals, teachers, students and their families, and aged care homes. The editor is Catholic lay woman Jane Fagotto.
Catholic Outlook was launched in1998 by the Bishop of Parramatta Kevin Manning, to inform the Catholic community on church events, offer the Catholic point of view with reward to all sorts of topics, such as questions of morals, bio-ethics, politics”.
The issue for February 2007 includes the text of Bishop Manning’s Lenten Message. It gives information on spiritual care and enrichment of Aboriginal People in the area, in an Aboriginal way under the decision-making and leadership of the Aboriginal People. The present ACM has an Aboriginal Committee representing nine different Aboriginal Families. Other topics treated include Catholic education, charity work, vocations and the activity of Emmaus Disabled Persons Catholic Services, a community for people with intellectual disability. The Diocese of Parramatta covers the Greater Western Sydney area from Castle Hill to Warragamba, to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, and from Parramatta to Windsor.
