AMERICA/PERU - “Flame of Evangelisation” tours dioceses to prompt spiritual renewal carrying the light of Christ to all the dioceses so that each person may feel renewed and become the light of Christ in the family, in the parish, in society.

Huancayo (Agenzia Fides) - The "Flame of Evangelisation", symbol of the light of Christ, continues its pilgrimage across Peru. The initiative is part of Itinerant Olympics organised by the Family Catechesis Movement as a fruit of the 1st International Youth Congress held in July 2006. At the end of that Congress last year, the young participants promised to walk with Jesus adopting his words “I have come to bring fire to the earth and how I wish it was already alight” (Lk 12,49). The Flame is symbolic of this mission to carry the light of Christ to every diocese so that each person may feel renewed and become the light of Christ in the family, in the parish, in society.
The Flame began its pilgrimage in 2006 and the organisers expect it to last until 2008. On Sunday 14 January the Flame reached Sacred Heart parish in the archdiocese of Huancayo from where it was carried in procession to the cathedral for the celebration of a special Mass. For the next two weeks the Flame will visit parishes and then move on to reach the diocese of Huancavelica on 28 January. While the Flame is in the diocese young animators and parents take part in a permanent mission reflecting the Light of Christ and spreading it in every community.
