Roma (Agenzia Fides)- Until 7 January there is still time to join an important initiative of solidarity with the Comunità Giovanni XXIII run by Rev Oreste Benzi. An SMS sent to number 4858323 gives one Euro in aid of the Comunità Giovanni XXIII.
Through the Pontifical Council for the Laity the Comunità Giovanni XXIII association obtained recognition as an international Catholic association of pontifical right.
The Community has 1,600 members who care for 4,230 inmates in 467 structures as follows: 240 Family Houses, 21 day work centres, 8 homes for former girl prostitutes, 8 homes of prayer and residence, 9 emergency homes, 6 emergency homes for children, 3 farms, 4 holiday centres, 2 schools, 3 centres for alcoholics, 9 fraternity homes, 28 open families, 2 homes for objectors and peace, 36 therapy communities, 7 Stables of Bethlehem, 1 sports centre, 1 centre for collecting clothes, 1 canteen for tramps, 15 cooperatives, 61 operative centres, 2 homes for prisoners.(L.M.)
