AMERICA/ECUADOR - Towards CAM 3: 3rd American Mission Congress has theme and slogan; continental competition for official poster and hymn

Quito (Agenzia Fides) - Preparations continue for the Third American Mission Congress, CAM 3, Fides is informed by CAM 3 Secretary Osvaldo Fierro Terán. The year 2007 will be important in preparation for CAM 3, due to be held next year, but postponed until 12 to 17 August 2008 because of the 5th General Conference of Council of Latin American Bishops’ Conferences CELAM convoked for May 2007 in Aparecida, Brazil, and in view of the important and relevant guidelines which will be issued at the end of that continental conference.
A CAM 3 theme and slogan were chosen after consultation at various levels: theme "The Church in missionary discipleship”; slogan “America with Christ: listens, learns, announces”.
A continental competition has been launched for the official CAM3 poster and hymn. The hymn and the poster, based on the chosen slogan and theme. should express America’s missionary spirit and relation with mission ad gentes. Entries must be sent in by 30 March 2007.
