Monday, 6 November 2006

Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - “The Family, First and Principal reality” is the slogan of the annual Family Embracing Week 2006 organised 6-12 November by the Catholic Church in Venezuela. This year the Week is based on two important events and final documents: “Church and Family: Present and Future " issued at the end of a Plenary Council of the Church in Venezuela, in October (see Fides 9/10/2006); Guidelines presented at the end of the 5th World Meeting for Families held in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI in Valencia, Spain last July.
Family Embracing Week started with the opening Mass on 5 November. Daily reflection will focus on the following themes: “Rediscovering the figure of the father”, values of the father figure, promoting and celebrating the father’s presence in the family; “Sustaining married life” an ongoing process to deepen and enhance mutual and family love; "Conflict in the family" identify most common family disputes and help find solutions; “parents first and principal educators of their children” identify and defend role of the parents and the family in the integral education of every human person; "Family Rights" the reality of the family as the founding nucleus of society and respecting the ensuing rights. Saturday 11 November every region will hold a Family Feast and Sunday 12 Family Embracing Day will close the event. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 6/11/2006; righe 20, parole 281)
