AFRICA/TANZANIA - Special study seminar reflects on the Catholic Church’s mission in east Africa

Arusha (Agenzia Fides) - More than 125 philosophy seminarians and religious representing ten different congregations attended a special two day seminar 26-27 October at Senior Spiritan Seminary, Arusha, Tanzania. According to a report by lay missionary John P. Mbonde, the topics covered included Basic Distinction between Christian, Mission Evangelisation, inculturation and ministry in East Africa; Using local cultures as a meeting place of God and human beings; The impact of communications including African oral literature and the Mass media on Evangelisation; African family as a vehicle of inculturation and evangelisation; Small Christian Communities and their role in evangelisation; Self awareness as a means of inculturation; MAC founders, Structures other members and our commitment. In his opening speech, the Rector, Fr Eligius Mkulima, Cssp stressed the need to reflect on the reality of Africa today and mission in Africa today, citing out several other relevant questions about Africa socially, economically and politically.
