Manila (Agenzia Fides) - One hundred images of the Blessed Virgin Mary from all over the Philippines on show in Manila, are a sign of the deep devotion for Mary among the people of this country. The images are part of an exhibition organised by Radio Veritas until 28 October. The images include a precious image of the Mary on the Miraculous which belonged to the deceased Cardinal Jaime Sin, former archbishop of Manila who died in 2005 Sin, the picture of the Vergin de los Remedios (Archdiocese San Fernando) and the icon of Nuestra Senora de la Merced kept at Candaba.
The goal of this “Marian radio pilgrimage” says Radio Veritas is to encourage the recitation of the Rosary, as the Blessed Virgin Mary has requested often in apparitions.
Fr. Anton Pascual, Radio Veritas chairman and executive director of Caritas Manila said donations made by visitors to the exhibition will be sent to people affected by the recent typhoon in the Philippines.
Radio Veritas is a valuable service of witness for the Catholic community in the Philippines and in other countries of Asia for whom it is a point of reference. It also serves to spread the Gospel among non Christians who show great appreciation for its programmes in many different languages. The Radio is also used by the Bishops to send important messages to the people. (Agenzia Fides 26/10/2006 righe 26 parole 267)
