AMERICA/PERU - Congress for Catholic Students “Convivio 2006” reflects on faith and the necessity of a consistent style of life

Callao (Agenzia Fides) - "And you, who do you say that I am ?” (Mt 16,15) is the theme of the 23rd Congress for Catholic Students Convivio 2006, organised by the Movimento de Vida Cristiana of Callao 6-7-8 October in the diocese of Callao in Peru. Participants will include thousands of school pupils aged 14-17 from Catholic schools in the diocese of Callao de San Miguel.
With the help of conferences, group discussion, video viewing, prayers and liturgical services, theatre, games, the young people will reflect on the faith and the necessity of a consistent style of life. The purpose is to encourage them to follow Jesus more closely, and especially to share their own experience of the Lord with their friends. Special importance will be given to Adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament. In the morning of Sunday 8 October the young participants will go to help poor families in the Pachacútec district of Callao. In the afternoon the closing Mass will be presided by the Bishop of Callao Miguel Irizar. “Convivio” Congress for Catholic Students has been held in various countries of Latin America since 1977 including Peru (Lima, Arequipa and Callao), Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo), Colombia (Bogota, Cali and Medellin), and Ecuador (Guayaquil).
