Tenaru (Agenzia Fides) - ‘Our choice, our future’ was the theme for St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Tenaru graduation and presentation day. The school hall was filled with students, parents and friends who witnessed the graduation on the 17th September 2006.Archbishop Adrian Smith sm, Archbishop of Honiara was the main celebrant at the Eucharistic celebration. Mr. Connelly Sandakabatu, principal of the school, highlighted the fact that everyone is the architect of his own future. He also stated that every family unit is a quarry and every school is the scaffold that assists a person build his future. St. Joseph’s Tenaru School, he said, is both a quarry and a scaffold. He thanked the staff and parents for the holistic education of the students, characterised by a spirit of care, justice and truth, in the way of Mary, as bequeathed by St. Marcellin Champgnat, the founder of the Marist Brothers. “The different programmes and activities constantly challenge the academic, physical endurance, spirituality, leadership and behaviour of the students and enable them be happy and enjoy life”, he said.
.The Catholic Church in Solomons is deeply committed to educating young people. Catholic schools offer quality education, as well as education in values and teachers aim to guide young people on a path of human and Christian formation.
