EUROPE/SPAIN - In view of departure for mission, Mission animators and Mission volunteers undertake intensive formation

Madrid (Agenzia Fides) - A three month course of mission formation in view of departure for mission abroad organised by the School of Mission Formation with the collaboration the Spanish Conference of Religious CONFER starts today 18 September in Madrid. The course is open new mission animators and volunteers and also to experienced missionaries working in other countries and at the moment in Spain. CONFER director Consolata Missionary Carlos Marcilla, said although the course is for missionary religious, clergy and laity working already in a mission territory it is also open to mission animators and volunteers involved in mission animation a in religious congregations or dioceses. An important aspect of the course is the opportunity to share experience and reflect together says Carlos Marcilla.
The three month course will end on 21 December and it has four areas of interest: Reality: Christian interpretation of reality; the religious fact: anthropology and religious phenomenology, theology of religions, new religious movements; Mission: theology of mission, history of evangelisation, inculturation, ecumenism; Mission fields and duties: continents, human social, cultural environments, cooperation . The course includes workshops on the following themes: animation methods, Bible reading, human relationships, means of communication. There will also be a conference on preventive medicine, a panel debate on missionary spirituality and a pilgrimage to Javier. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 18/9/2006; righe 21, parole 282)
