AFRICA/UGANDA - Metropolitan Archbishop of Kampala resigns and successor appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, on 19 August 2006, accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the archdiocese of Kampala (Uganda), presented by Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala, in conformity with the Code of Canon Law, canon 401 § 1. The Holy Father appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Kampala (Uganda), Bishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, until now Bishop of Kasana-Luweero. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 28/8/2006; Righe 6; Parole 72)
