EUROPE/ITALY - In Assisi 4th national week of missionary formation and spirituality: “Narrators of Hope in the World”

Wednesday, 26 July 2006

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - At least 130 pastoral workers, priests, missionaries and active lay adults and young people have signed up for the traditional national week of missionary formation and spirituality to be held in Assisi 25 to 30 August 2006 to reflect on the theme Narrators of Hope in the World, in line with the National Catholic Church Conference in Verona in October. Mgr. Giuseppe Andreozzi - director of the Italian Bishops’ office for missionary cooperation among Churches and national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies - said this about previous editions of this event: “In these years we have seen growing interest and participation which confirms that the historical condition in which we find ourselves demands rigorous formative decisions with qualified theological, spiritual and cultural direction”.
The 6 day programme of the 4th national week of missionary formation and spirituality includes testimony, reports, debates, discussion groups on the following subjects: the world’s thirst for hope; the Risen Lord source of hope; fragments of hope on the continents; witness of hoping against hope; places of hope: frontiers in Italy and on mission; witnessing hope in the life of our communities. There will also be time for personal and community prayer and an itinerary of Franciscan spirituality through the streets of Assisi.
