ASIA/ISRAEL - St John of God Brothers in Nazareth give emergency treatment to victims of rocket attacks, two dead and seventy one wounded

Wednesday, 26 July 2006

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - St John of God Catholic Hospital in Nazareth was the first to give emergency treatment to victims of an attack on the town a week ago in the present conflict. At about 5pm on Wednesday 19 July, re-named Nazareth’s black Wednesday, without any warning three Katyusha rockets suddenly landed in the Bilal district of the Arab part of the town hitting a mosque in front of which several children were playing.
St John of God Catholic Hospital is the closest to the site and a member of the ARAN Israeli emergency hospital network, prepared immediately to treat the victims, 71 with injuries more or less serious and sadly two children dead, who were siblings.
St John of God Brothers communities in Italy have said they ready to provide any sort of assistance or even emergency intervention in Nazareth, should the need arise. (AP) (26/07/2006 Agenzia Fides; Righe:15; Parole:153)
