AFRICA/CAMEROON - Rector appointed for Paul VI Major Inter-Diocesan Seminar in diocese of Bafoussam

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 26 May 2006, appointed Rector of Paul VI Major Inter-Diocesan Seminar in diocese of Bafoussam (Cameroon), Reverend Benoît Kala of the diocesan clergy of Nkongsamba.
The new Rector was born on 29 August 1952 at Bafang. He attended the local Catholic school in Banka-Bafang, then went to Saint Michel minor seminary in Melong before studying philosophy and theology at the major seminary in Nkolbisson. He was ordained a priest on 3 July 1982. He has since been: vice rector at Melong minor seminary (1982/84); Fidei donum priest in the diocese of Yagoua (1984/88); student at the Catholic University of Paris (1988/94) for a degree in theology and a doctorate on social sciences; professor at Paul VI major seminary in Douala (1994/95); rector of propaedeutic seminary in Mbanga, diocesan vocations delegate, member of the diocesan council (1995/99); Vicar general, rector at the cathedral, diocesan vocations delegate (2000/06).
