Tuesday, 18 July 2006

Salta (Agenzia Fides) - “Jesus, come, send us, we are for life" is the theme of a Youth Rally 19-21 August organised by the youth pastoral office of the archdiocese of Salta as part of a year of celebrations 28 March 2006 to 28 March 2007 to mark the 200th anniversary of the creation of the diocese in 1806 (see Fides 19/5/2006).
The purpose of the Youth Rally, Fides was told by the organisers, "is to celebrate and thank God for 200 years of the life of the Church in Salta, deepening the encounter with the living Jesus Christ, working in society to be his authentic disciples and missionaries to build the civilisation of Love". The rally is for all the young people of the diocese of 15 years upwards.
The event will take place simultaneously in various parishes in Salta and with a few principal gatherings, the opening Mass in the cathedral on 19 August and the closing Mass on Monday 21. The theme of the Rally is in keeping with the theme of CELAM 5 “Disciples and Missionaries of Jesus Christ that our people may have life in Him ".
In a letter of presentation addressed to the youth of the diocese, Archbishop Mario Antonio Cargnello urged them all to take part, he explained the significance of the theme and reminded them that being for life means "loving life from the moment of conception to the last breath, it means being for the family, loving our family and preparing to build our own family, able to give life that others may have life, able to show others the Lord of Life."
Rally activities will include a youth parade through the city to call the announce the Good News, a catechesis on Mission, in preparation for the Great Continental Mission 2008 planned in view of CELAM 5. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 18/7/2006; righe 31, parole 438)
