EUROPE/ITALY - Summer formation time for young people with Oblate Missionaries of Mary Immaculate

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - The MGC Youth Building Movement of the Oblate Missionaries of Mary Immaculate OMI has planned numerous formation initiatives for this Summer 2006. To start with, National Courses 17 -22 July at the Oblate Houses Marino and Frascati, near Rome for young people from the Italian regions of Tuscany, Lazio, Abruzzo, Campania, Puglia, Calabria and Sicily and ten Oblate assistants. Formation will focus on three areas: MGC identity and goals, group animation, youth missions.
When they enrol participants choose one of the following sectors: 1. Formation Course which aims to deepen MGC identity, knowledge of OMI charisma, and almost 20 years of MGC history and development. The Course focuses on various themes including: the decision for God in the life of a young; the pillars of the community, the affective sphere, vocation discernment. 2. Animator Course, for MGC members for some years involved in animation of younger members. The course focuses on group animation, the vocation of the animator, communicating the faith with non verbal language, group dynamics. 3. Mission Course, on youth missions for young people with experience and those preparing for this type of mission. Subjects include: Mission as Kerygmatic action, visits to young people and animation at counselling centres.
From 1 to 9 August a pilgrimage to Lourdes has been organised. Young Italians in contact with OMI will be joined by young people from Germany, Spain, and France also in contact with OMI and together they will reflect on how to be Communicators of Hope in Europe.
