AMERICA/MEXICO - “It is our duty to remind people of the primacy of God in our life, of the God who created us and by whom we will all be judged one day” say Catholic Bishops of Mexico after bomb attacks in Bombay

Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - “With deep sadness we heard through the media the news of the bomb blasts in Bombay, and we wish to express our solidarity with all those affected by the tragedy and assure them of our spiritual closeness through prayer ": this is part of a statement entitled “Love is Stronger than Death ", issued by the Catholic Bishops of Mexico on the Bishops’ Conference web site following the recent attacks on suburban railways in Bombay India.
The Bishops, “deeply concerned by such antihuman and anti-Christian behaviour which is a manifestation of depravation”, stress the need to remind all men and women of the moral values which are the only basis for a human society and of the primacy of God “who created us and by whom we will all be judged one day”.
The Mexican Bishops end their statement with a message of hope: “Christ said ‘Fear not for I have conquered the world’ (Jn 16, 33). These are words no one can erase. With this deep certainty we look serenely towards the future as we pray and work unceasingly for a better world. Of course in the world there are those who speak the language of violence and death. But for our part we shout to the whole world: ". (RG) (Agenzia Fides 13/7/2006, righe 18, parole 243)
