I am deeply pained by the news of the bomb explosions of yesterday evening in the suburban trains and railway stations of Bombay causing many deaths and casualties as well as great damage to properties.
At this moment of great grief I express my sincere condolence to the families of the victims and pray that Almighty God may touch the hearts of those who perpetrate such inhuman crimes of violence and fill them with respect and love for their fellow human beings.
I take this opportunity to express my close solidarity with all the God-fearing and peace--loving citizens of our beloved city of Bombay in their sorrow and anxiety and I assure them of my special prayers.
Yours fraternally in Corde Mariae, Ivan Cardinal Dias”. (Agenzia Fides 12/7/2006 - righe 12, parole 158)
