VATICAN - Celebrations at the Basilica of St Paul’s outside the Walls for the feast of Saints Peter and Paul

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - Today Monday 26 June, the Basilica and Abbey of St Paul’s outside the Walls start a solemn three days celebration in honour of the patron saints of Rome Saints Peter and Paul whose feast day occurs on 29 June. Here are the main events: June 26 5.45pm Vespers and Mass of the Conversion of St. Paul presided by Abbot Jacques Brière OCSO, of Tre Fontane Abbey; 27 June 6pm Ecumenical Vespers of Saint’s Peter and Paul with a reflection by Anglican Bishop John Flack, Representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury to the Holy See; 28 June 5.45 Vespers of the Vigil of Saints’ Peter and Paul presided by Cardinal Franc Rodé, prefect of the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
Thursday 29 June: 7am morning prayer; 10.30am solemn Mass presided by Abbot Edmund Power OSB, of St Paul’s outside the Walls; 5pm Vespers presided by the Abbot in the presence of Cardinal Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo, arch-priest of the Basilica of Saint Paul’s and Archbishop Tommaso Valentinetti of Pescara-Penne, who will propose a reflection; 6pm Mass solemn Mass presided by Cardinal Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo with homily by the Prior Johannes Paul Abrahamowicz OSB; 8pm Procession with the Chains of Saint Paul starting from the portico of the Basilica.
