Durban (Agenzia Fides)- An International Convention of Priests, promoted by the Southern African Council of Priests (SACOP) will take place at the Edgewood Campus of the University of Kwa Zulu Natal from 10-14 July 2006. Organised by the Metropolitan Province of Durban, the Convention is open to all priests looking for an opportunity to be refreshed by a number of interesting topics and speakers.
Topics include: Collaborators in the Vineyard of the Lord - Keynote address by his Eminence, Cardinal Napier OFM of Durban, President of the SACBC Morale in the Priesthood, presented by Bishop William Slattery OFM Bishop of Kokstad Diocese, The Shepherd and his Flock, presented by representatives of the Laity Formation and Ongoing formation needs presented by the Seminary Rectors of Southern Africa and Fr Vincent Brennan, Secretary General of the SACBC Proclaiming the Good News in Today’s Context - a Theological Discussion anchored by Fr Albert Nolan OP Integrity in Ministry - presented by Fr Desmond Nair The Call to be a Self-supporting and Self- respecting Church - a theological discussion led by the Sekwele centre for Social Reflection.
Included in the Convention will be a Pilgrimage to Mariannhill Monastery in honour of the many priests who have laboured in the Vineyard. There will also be a presentation on the Cause of Abbot Francis Pfanner. The last day will see a number of addresses including Archbishop Buti Tlhagale OMI of Johannesburg, the Apostolic Nuncio to Southern Africa and other Dignitaries.. (L.M.)
