EUROPE/ITALY - 4th European Symposium for University Docents: 250 docents from 25 different countries will discuss “Enterprise and Building a new Humanism”

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - “Enterprise and Building a new Humanism” is the title of the 4th European Symposium for University Docents to be held in Rome 22 - 25 June 2006 promoted by the Rome diocese office for University Pastoral and organised by the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. The opening ceremony will take place at the Campidoglio, the Mayor of Rome’s office. After a presentation by Prof. Cesare Mirabelli, president of the Committee of University Docents the work will be introduced by Cardinal Camillo Ruini, vicar general of the diocese of Rome and president of the Italian Bishops’ who will speak on “Christian enterprise and humanism”. To follow there will be a brilliant lecture by Prof. David Teece of Berkeley University California on “Evolution of the relation enterprise-man: economic-social reflections”, introductory papers by Prof. Alberto Cova (Università Cattolica) on “Evolution of the relation enterprise-man: historical reflection” and Prof. Peter Koslowski (Free University of Amsterdam) “Evolution of the relation enterprise-man: cultural reflection”.
The Symposium will be held at Università Cattolica di Roma 23 - 25 with an opening talks by the rector of Sacred Heart University Prof. Lorenzo Ornaghi and Prof. Nicola Occhiocupo (Competition and Market Guarantor Authority). The symposium will consist in plenary and parallel sessions involving at least 250 docents from 25 different countries Albania, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Greek, Lithuania, Moldavia, etc.). Worth noting in the opening plenary session a theological reflection by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Archbishop of Genoa, and the closing intervention by Archbishop Giampaolo Crepaldi, Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. On Friday 23 June the debate will be enriched with two much awaited panel discussions on “Enterprise in Europe today.
