VATICAN - Feast of Corpus Christi: Pope Benedict XVI reminds Romans and visitors of the Holy Mass and Blessed Sacrament Procession, the Major Basilica of St Mary organises Forty Hours Adoration

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On Thursday 15 June, solemnity of the Corpus Christi, at 7pm Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate Mass in front of his Cathedral of St John in the Lateran in Rome. Immediately after Mass the Holy Father will preside the Procession with the Blessed Sacrament along via Merulana, to the Major Basilica of Saint Mary. At the midday Angelus prayer on Sunday 11 June the Pope reminded Romans and visitors of the recurrence encouraging them to take part in this expression of the Church’s love for her Lord and her faith in His presence in the Eucharist.
In preparation for the Feast of Corpus Christi this year the Major Basilica of St Mary has organised Forty Hours of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament day and night in the company of Mary “Woman of the Eucharist”. The prayer of Adoration will start at the end of the 9am Mass on Tuesday 13 June and conclude at midday Thursday 15 June. During the time of Adoration there will be certain prayers, the Liturgy of the Hours and the Holy Rosary, but most of the time there will be silent adoration. (S.L.)
