ASIA/TAIWAN - Regional Bishops’ Conference presents Chinese version of “Deus Caritas Est” Pope Benedict XVI’s first encyclical

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - According to Christian Life Weekly, issued by the Catholic archdiocese of Tai Pei, the Chinese version of Pope Benedict XVI’s first encyclical Deus Caritas Est was presented to the public by the Regional Bishops’ Conference at a recent press conference in Tei Pei. Addressing the press the Conference secretary Rev John Chen said the work was a profound analysis and reflection on God who is Love and the Love of God. Noting that the Deus Caritas Est” bears the date of January 25 the feast of the Conversion of St Paul Fr John Chen said: “The Pope shows his determination to promote unity among all Christians and peaceful co-existence among all nations and religions. The Encyclical Deus Caritas Est is the essence of the life and faith of the Pope. With simple words the Pope explains his rich and profound thought. It is also a valid tool for knowing the Catholic faith” he said. Together with the Chinese version of the Encyclical the Regional Bishops’ Conference also launched an accompanying note.
