AMERICA/CHILE - SCRIPTURE SOURCE AND MODEL OF PRAYER AND EVANGELISATION: MEETING OF LATIN AMERICA AND CARIBBEAN CATHOLIC BIBLE FEDERATION

Santiago de Chile (Fides Service) – As part of celebrations for Bible Month in Chile, the Cono Sur Latin American and Caribbean Bible Federation will hold its 6th Meeting of 29 September 3 October in Santiago de Chile, with the significant theme “Thirsting for God’s Word ”.
The Meeting, promoted by the National Commission for Biblical pastoral of the Chilean Bishops’ Conference, has the following objectives: presentation and biblical-theological foundations of the passage from the Bible Movement to Biblical animation of Pastoral its nature and implications in organic pastoral; Sacred Scripture source and model of prayer and its consequences in organic pastoral; Sacred Scripture source and model of evangelisation and its consequences in organic pastoral.
The meeting will be attended by representatives from Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay e Chile. The participants will reflect on five themes: “Renewing biblical pastoral”; “The Word of God school of interpretation ”; “The Word of God school of prayer”; “The Word of God school of evangelisation”. Work groups will discuss the following: “The Bible in the culture of the image ”, “The Bible in popular piety”, “The Bible in a globalised society”, “The Bible and new moral challenges: AIDS, human genome, political and economic instability, etc”, “The Bible in ecumenical brotherhood”, “Organic Pastoral and Biblical animation of pastoral: growing dialogue”. At the end of their work the participants will draft a final statement summarising the findings of the various work groups. The Meeting’s agenda includes time for reflection, Mass, Lectio Divina, sharing, testimony, work shops, cultural spectacles. (R.Z:) (Agenzia Fides 23/9/2003; lines 22; words 272)
