AMERICA/COLOMBIA - Course for missionaries ad gentes organised by National Mission Centre

Bogota (Fides Service) - The National Mission Centre in Bogota has organised a four week Course for Missionaries ad gentes from 30 May to 23 June for priests, religious and lay people who wish to start working in the field of missionary activity. Applicants must be presented by their respective bishop or provincial religious superior. Those selected will be sent to proclaim the Gospel in Asia or Africa, in non Christian or de-Christianised areas in difficult pastoral situations and also in the poorest of regions.
Themes for study in the four weeks range from: Missionaries and disciples; Mission in the African context; missionary spirituality today; the power and comfort of the Holy Spirit in mission ; Mission challenges in the 21st century; Anthropology for mission; evangelisation of the social and political world in mission Ad gentes; to structures of the service of mission; missionary pastoral care; inculturation of the missionary today; missionary challenges of the Colombian Church at home and abroad; Maria first missionary.
Speakers will include: Archbishop Luis Augusto Castro Quiroga of Tunja president of the Colombian Bishops’ Conference; Bishop Fabián Marulanda López, secretary general; Bishop Edgar Hernando Facile Maglio, president of the Bishops Commission for Missionary Pastoral care; Bishop Fabio Suescún Mutis, military ordinary for Colombia; Father Fidel Oñoro, director of the CELAM Centre for Biblical Pastoral in Latin America.
